Aisha Jumwa says there is need to review public servants' salaries

The Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa, has said that there is need to review upwards the salaries for public servants to help them deal with the current economic challenges.

According to Aisha Jumwa, the public servants are being demotivated by the salaries they are paid thus low output in service delivery.

Aisha Jumwa who toured the Huduma Center Headquarters to assess services, noted that most public servants are demoralized due to their low earnings amid the harsh economic times adding that she will initiate talks to have their pay raised.

The CS, who was accompanied by the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service and Gender Mary kamonye, the CS refuted claims that the public the service is bloated and promised an upward review of salaries.

At the same time, Jumwa said that her ministry is seeking to improve services at the 52 Huduma Centres across the country in the next 100 days.

She also added that 18 Huduma Centres including the one at the headquarters will have their working hours extended from 7am to 7pm, an initiative seeking to enhance convenience in accessing services.
