Everton came from behind to defeat Arsenal 2-1 at Goodison Park, ending an eight-game winless streak.
Richarlison scored a header for Everton in the 43rd minute, but the goal was disallowed for offside after a VAR investigation. Martin Odegaard's well-struck volley gave Arsenal the lead two minutes into the second half of extra time.

The second half began equally, and Rafa Benitez's side felt they had equalized just before the hour mark, but Richarlison's close-range strike was once again ruled offside. 10 minutes from time, the Brazilian leveled the score when he headed home a rebound from Demarai Gray's shot that had hit the crossbar.

Gray came from the left and fired a fantastic goal past a hapless Aaron Ramsdale to give Everton a late winner. Everton are now in 12th place, while Arsenal are still in seventh place.

After the match Arteta had this to say:

“In the first half we were very inconsistent with the ball. I didn't like it. No penetration. One of the few times we did it we scored. Second half, we tried to do more of those things, created four big chances but conceded a very sloppy goal when you need to manage the game.
"We couldn't take the ball into the final third. They're not going to give you time, at Goodison you know what to expect. I think the team tried to go, we kept pressing high. We lost a few important duels that put us some pressure."
