Governor Oparanya has said that jail term should be imposed on students that are found burning schools. he called on discipline in schools proposing that magistrates in cases of students involving in burning school property should hand them a 60 year jail.

Due to burning of schools in the recent days Governor Oparanya has said that a jail Term should be imposed on students that are found culpable for arson attacks in schools. He said that parents will be forced to dig deep into their pockets to pay for the damages especially at this time when the pandemic has caused much effect in the economy. He advised parents to talk to their children and remind them why they take them to school.

Speaking in Kakamega, he called out discipline in schools proposing that magistrates in cases of students involving in burning school property should hand them a sixty-year jail Term. He demanded that parents will have to bear the burden of the fires. His statement comes days after the burning of the two dormitories at Kakamega High school on Saturday November 6 which made the school to be closed.

Echesa called the Ministry and Teachers Service commission to restore power to teachers to instill discipline in schools. He moreover called for the evoking of criminal justice system on the learners since underlay they have criminal liability as long as in the light frame of mind.
