The Gusii Council of Elders on Thursday called for peace between Kisii Governor James Ongwae and the Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i after the police officers stormed the Governor’s residence on Saturday last week while having dinner and disrupted him.

The police officers claimed that the dinner session breached the Ministry of Health directives against the Covid-19 disease.

On the other hand the governor denied the claims saying he was with the ODM Party political leaders; Sam Ongeri, Janet Ongera and Pamela Ochieng when the armed police officers stormed in the house

Speaking to journalists on Thursday the Gusii Council of elders chairman Araka Matundura said that they want the two to reconcile because the community cannot seat and watch the ill feeling between the governor and the CS over something that can be solved.

Matundura insisted that they want peace between the two which will help foster unity and the spirit of togetherness. He further added that the interest of the Council is to see the community leaders united and working together as brothers, as they will not want to allow the two read from different scripts.
