After a viral tweet of him whining about the Mejja's hit song tabia za wakenya lyrics, Kenyans were astounded to see H.E Raila Odinga listening to gengetone. Raila explained this in a morning tweet, saying that Kenyans' inability to maintain time is a threat.

Many Kenyans were taken aback when the honourable even acknowledged that Kenyan singers have talent. The responses to the tweets were funny, with some nice feedback and, as typically, unpleasant feedback.

This comes at a time when Gengetone airplay in Kenya is thought to be declining, with some even believing the genre has died out. The gengetone musicians are struggling because their songs aren't getting nearly as many views as they once did.

Kenyans are constantly advised to listen to Kenyan music in order to support the artists' livelihoods. Khaligraph Jones recently organized a challenge in which the performing artists were compensated financially. Odibets Kenya funded Khaligraph's event, entitled the "Odinare Challenge."
