MATIANG’I ANNOUNCES DUSK TO DAWN CURFEW IN THESE REGIONS
The CS directed that Laikipia Nature Conservancy and its environs be declared as disturbed areas and therefore a security operation zone.

The Government has placed a 6pm curfew at Laikipia Nature Conservancy and its environs, as a security operation kicks off in a move to fish out illegal occupants in the area.The announcement came after a meeting was held within the National Security Council to review the rise of insecurity in some parts of Laikipia County.

“During this meeting, the NSC noted that the area has continued to witness insecurity as a result of rampant cattle rustling arising from competition for water and pasture, as well as a surge in illegal gun ownership which has escalated the violence”.
According to the statement, the CS directed that Laikipia Nature Conservancy and its environs be declared as disturbed areas and therefore a security operation zone.
“All leaders including politicians, businessmen, public officers and others who have illegally moved their livestock into the conflict zone to remove the same from there within the next 48 hours, “said the CS.
Matiang’i said that the move is set to help the government contain rising insecurities caused by armed bandits who have refused to surrender.
“This issue should be handled with the seriousness it deserves. Be ruthless o these bandits and they will never appear again, “he added.
