THE HORRIFYING POLICE MURDERS OF ERICK ACHANDO KERONGO AND DAVIN MORAA.
The revelations of how a boda-boda rider and a young girl were killed in the hands of the police.
Residents of Rioma in Kitutu-Chache North, Kisii county, came into shock following two separate incidences where two people lost their lives in the hands of the police.According to reports,the first incident was that of a bodaboda rider who was brutally murdered by police at Rioma police station on Saturday 26th June.News sources state that Erick Achando Kerongo was arrested for violating curfew hours but he was later shot dead by the police inside the Rioma police cell.

The second incident happened in the same police station(Rioma police station) the following day on Sunday 27th June during a hit and run between the residents and the police where the residents were expressing their anger to the police for killing the bodaboda rider.The action by the police created a back-clash from the residents which resulted to the police using live bullets to disperse the angry residents.However,this did not end well as it claimed the life of one girl,Davin Moraa.Residents continuously emphasized that the actions by the police were brutal and inhumane.

Both families of the deceased demand for answers and also request for the police to probe into the matter.There has been no official statement from the police on the issue and as to whether action will be taken on the police officers who did the act.The pressure between the residents and the police ensues while both families give luming pressure for the issue to be addressed.The clergy also condemned the police for using brutal force on citizens while performing their duty.
The Corona Virus pandemic has come with a lot of restrictions and measures which have to be implemented by the police and various stakeholders .However,this has led to police brutality in various counties especially Kisii county which was imposed with the recent 4am-7pm curfew.This is because many citizens from the county have found themselves being mistreated by the police.Therefore,the government should intervene to ensure its citizens are safe from those who are entrusted to implement the law.
