Kenya's Youngest CS Nominee Eric Muuga, is worth Ksh. 31 M and doesn't own a car
Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary nominee Eric Muriithi Muuga has announced that his net worth is Ksh. 31 million.
Muuga made this disclosure during his appearance before Parliament’s Committee on Appointments for vetting on Friday. At just 32 years old, he is also the youngest nominee for a Cabinet Secretary position.
He explained that his wealth is derived from investments in agriculture and real estate. When committee member and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed inquired whether he owns a car, Muuga simply replied, "No."
“My net worth is Ksh.31 million. I come from a region that is engaged in farming so I’ve invested in lands and planted crops like tea, coffee, bananas, miraa,” said Muuga.
“I have chosen to invest instead of buying a car, to start with,” he told MP Mohamed.
Speaker Moses Wetangula posed to him: “If you’re approved and appointed, and you get into the office, and tomorrow a major contractor in the water sector comes and offers you a car, will you take it?”
The CS noted with an emphatic “No!”
