Unrest in Ibacho town as treasurer goes missing with chama money
In Ibacho town, located within Kiamokama ward, Nyaribari Masaba, members of the Ibacho Trading Company self-help group have reached a boiling point. The group, formed with the aim of pooling resources and fostering economic growth among its members, has instead become a source of frustration and anger.
For an extended period, the group’s treasurer has allegedly misappropriated funds entrusted to them by the members. This financial mismanagement has left the members disillusioned and without any tangible returns from their investments. Despite their hopes and efforts, the group has not borne any fruits since its inception.
The members are demanding that the treasurer hand over the title deeds to the properties and assets purchased collectively by the group. They believe that selling these assets is the only way to recoup their investments and recover from the financial setbacks they have endured.
The situation reached a critical point when the angry members gathered and marched to the treasurer’s home. Their intention was clear: they would not leave until the treasurer addressed their concerns and provided the title deeds.
Officers from Ramasha police station were dispatched to the scene. Their presence was crucial in maintaining peace and preventing the crowd from taking drastic actions. The police intervened to ensure that the confrontation did not lead to destruction or further conflict.
The members of the Ibacho Trading Company are now looking for ways to move forward and ensure that their efforts and contributions do not go to waste. The call for transparency and accountability in managing collective resources remains as pertinent as ever.
