Ambitious President Ruto's Historic Visit To The United States.

President William Ruto left Kenya for a five-day state visit to the United States, marking the first such visit by a Kenyan President and an African Head of State since 2008.

 On Sunday in Atlanta, Georgia, he started his tour at the Carter Presidential Library and Museum, highlighting shared values of governance, democracy, and anti-corruption between Kenya and the U.S. He then visited Ebenezer Baptist Church to honor the civil rights movement and the role of religion in promoting equality and justice.

On Monday, May, 20th 2024 ;President Ruto focused on the U.S.-Kenya health partnership at the CDC headquarters, announcing a new CDC-Kemri (Kenya Medical Research Institute) partnership.

On Tuesday, he will visit Spelman College to discuss the importance of higher education, especially in science and technology, for Kenya's human capital development. He will also visit Tyler Perry Studios to explore opportunities in the creative economy and meet with Coca-Cola to announce new investment partnerships. Additionally, he will launch Vivo’s first store in America.

On Wednesday, President Ruto and First Lady Rachael Ruto will arrive in Washington DC and be received with full ceremonial state honors at Andrews Air Force Base. He will then engage with a bipartisan congressional delegation, the Black Congressional Caucus, and the Senate’s bipartisan caucus to discuss climate change, regional conflicts, and Kenya's leadership on these issues.

Thursday, The President will begin with the First Couple laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery to honor American soldiers and historic figures like John F. Kennedy. President Ruto will hold bilateral meetings with President Biden to discuss economic, health, and security partnerships between Kenya and the U.S. He will then give a keynote speech on climate solutions at the Smithsonian. The day will end with a State dinner at the White House.

On Friday, May 24, President Ruto will conclude his visit with discussions focused on trade, investment, and digital cooperation.
