DESPAIR AS A FAMILY FACES THE HAMMER OVER LOAN ARREARS.
A few years ago Evans took a loan from one of the banks to start a business in Mombasa. In his wisdom he ventured into transport sector where he got a trailer for long distance transport, bought a home in Mtwapa Mombasa and erected a home for his family among other investments.
However, his life business started facing unforeseen misfortunes one after the other. First it was Corona Virus pandemic popularly known as Covid-19 which affected nearly all the sectors not only in the country but also worldwide. The transport sector was one of the most hit and here Evans was a victim.
Second, one of his trailers was involved in a fatal road accident in Uganda and was withheld by the authorities where by his efforts to get it was futile. In essence he lost one of his major investments in a foreign Country.
Third, lack of an enabling environment in the country due to bad economic times hindered his attempts to get himself back on his feet.
All in all, Evans and his family are facing an uncertain future. An uncertain future because they are facing the hammer of the auctioneer for defaulting on the loans.
Though Evans is not alone as statistics say that defaulted loans are worth more than 600 Billion which has made it hard for many Kenyans.
Evans borrowed Kshs 10,410,000 (Ten Million Four Hundred and Ten Thousand) and by april the bank was demanding Kshs.12, 354,408.50 (Twelve Million Three hundred and fifty four thiousand four hundred and eighty) from him and the interests keeps increasing day by day, already the auction letters have been sent to him and according to the letters, the hammer is scheduled to fall earlier July.
Evans, a father of three children aged 9 and 11 finds himself in the horns of a dilemma, he has nowhere to run. If the hammer falls and his residential home in mtwapa is auctioned, what will happen to his young family? Will he end up in the streets with his children? Where will his help come from. Well-wishers, philanthropists, Government or family.
Any help extended to Evans and his family is highly welcomed and encouraged. Mental help, spiritual help, material help and moral support will do him and his great family.
Evans has a lot to tell, his world is falling apart but he hopes for the best as he prepares for the worst. All he hopes for is that someone will reach out to him to save him and his family.
