Dormitory Fire Breaks Out at St. Mary’s Mosocho School in Kitutu Chache South

A dormitory at St. Mary's Mosocho School in Kitutu Chache South Constituency, Kisii County was destroyed by fire on Sunday night, leaving students counting losses after their belongings were burnt.

According to school sources and local residents, the fire broke out late at night and quickly spread through the dormitory, prompting an emergency response from firefighters and local authorities.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as students had already been evacuated from the dormitory by the time the fire intens

Firefighters arrived at the school shortly after the incident was reported and worked through the night to contain the flames. However, most of the students’ personal belongings, including clothes, bedding and learning materials, were destroyed in the blaze.

By morning, the fire had been fully extinguished, leaving the dormitory structure badly damaged.

School administrators were at the scene to assess the damage and comfort affected students.

Authorities have launched investigations to establish the cause of the fire, while the school management is expected to begin arrangements to support the affected students as learning continues.
