Governor Arati Meets Ward Bursaries Issuance Committee

Kisii County governor Hon. Simba Arati on Thursday convened a pivotal meeting at Cultural Training Centre with committee that was in charge of issuing bursaries in every ward

The Kisii county Boss’s proactive approach not only aimed to address prevailing concerns regarding the distribution of bursaries but also underscored his administration's commitment to fostering transparency and accountability in governance.

During the session, the governor announced the allocation of bursaries to every student in the county, signaling a concerted effort to ensure access to education for all, regardless of socio-economic backgrounds.

This initiative not only mitigates financial barriers but also underscores the administration's dedication to nurturing a conducive learning environment.

He also seized the opportunity to introduce a groundbreaking agricultural reform agenda. Recognizing the pivotal role of agriculture in Kisii County's economy, he announced a substantial reduction in the prices of Hash Avocado, a staple crop in the region.

By halving the price from 100 to 50, Governor Arati aims to make this essential commodity more accessible to farmers, thereby stimulating agricultural productivity and enhancing livelihoods.

Hon. Arati attributed past discrepancies in bursary disbursement to a lack of transparency among ward officials. He urged stakeholders to prioritize integrity and accountability in all educational initiatives, emphasizing the fundamental importance of education in driving socio-economic development.

Looking ahead, he outlined a strategy to revitalize the agricultural sector. Central to this vision is the establishment of Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (SACCOS) in every ward, designed to empower farmers and facilitate access to financial resources.

These SACCOS will serve as a catalyst for innovation, providing farmers with the necessary capital to enhance their agricultural practices, diversify their crops, and improve their market access.

He underscored his administration's unwavering commitment to uplifting marginalized farmers, emphasizing the need to bridge the gap between the privileged and the less fortunate. Through targeted interventions and capacity-building initiatives, he envisions a future where every farmer in Kisii County can realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to the agricultural landscape.
