Lake Okari in Kisii County is a gem that uis owned by a private family. The lake's existence is said to be a myth or tale. The lake is said to have emerged after a man named Okari and his family are said to have sunk down after a mysterious occurence.

Since the event occured in Okari's land it is said that the predecessors of the family who are known as the Okari's are said to own the lake. The family has even went ahead to fence the lake as the lake is becoming extinct due to the terresterial earthquake in Rift Valley.
To boost the county's economy it is urged that the residents of Kisii to visit the site before it becomes a tale.
