Initially believing his car was being towed, Wactor approached the scene to inquire. Unbeknownst to him, three individuals were attempting to steal a catalytic converter. As Wactor drew closer, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and opened fire.

The incident occurred around 3:25 a.m. PT, confirmed Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Wactor succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
