According to Bashir Mohamed, he courted both women for roughly eight months before convincing them to marry him.
I used to invite them over to my house to socialize, and I used to tell them openly that I loved them both. He told BBC Somali that they were happy.He claimed that marrying them both at the same time had the advantage of preventing them from becoming "jealous" later on and letting them know from the start that they were in a polygamous relationship.

“If other men can afford it, I will encourage them to do it,” Mohamed remarked.In Somali culture, polygamy is permitted, however it is uncommon to marry two women at the same time.Mohamed and the two women(Ilhan and Iqra) tied the knot.
The wedding was heavily attended in Sinai village, Ahmed Dhagah district, but the guests were taken aback by the unusual sight of a groom and two brides.
