Considering the alarming rise in extra-judicial killings in Kenya, former Chief Justice David Maraga has announced a significant public address scheduled for tomorrow, June 16th, 2025, at 10 AM outside Vigilance House in Nairobi.

The announcement comes on the heels of the brutal murder of Albert Omondi Ojwang', whose death has sparked outrage and renewed calls for accountability within the Kenyan police force.

In a statement released today, CJ (Em.) Maraga expressed his deep concern over the recent trend of violence and lawlessness, emphasizing the need for urgent action. "The tragic loss of Albert Omondi Ojwang' is not just a statistic; it represents a grave violation of human rights that demands our immediate attention, as citizens of goodwill, we must stand together and demand justice." he stated.

The former Chief Justice plans to notify the police of his planned actions during the address, which is expected to draw attention from both the media and the public. "Tomorrow's address will serve as a platform to hold the police accountable and to advocate for the protection of all Kenyans," Maraga added.

Maraga's call to action comes amid growing public discontent regarding police conduct and a series of high-profile cases involving extra-judicial killings. Advocacy groups have voiced their concerns, urging the government to take decisive steps to curb these violations and restore public trust in law enforcement.

"We invite all media houses to be present at this crucial event," Maraga's office stated in their media invitation. "This is an opportunity for all Kenyans to engage in a dialogue about justice and accountability."

As the nation grapples with these pressing issues, many are hopeful that Maraga's upcoming address will shed light on the necessary reforms needed within the police force and offer a path forward for achieving justice for victims of violence.
