OVER 174 STUDENTS FROM AMABUKO MIXED SECONDARY SCHOOL ADMITTED OVER ALLEGED FOOD POISONING
The students from Amabuko Mixed Secondary School are currently recuperating at various hospitals in Keroka Town,Kisii County.
More than 174 students from Amabuko Mixed Secondary School in Masaba South, Kisii County have been admitted to various hospitals after a complaint of abdominal pains and diarrhoea.
The school principal Mr.Rawlings Juma said the affected students complained of stomach upsets and abdominal pains early Monday morning. They made the arrangements and took them to various hospitals within Keroka town where they are currently receiving medication.
76 students have been admitted to Gucha hospital in Keroka, 55 students at St.Catherine Ichuni Mission Hospital and 23 at Keroka subcounty hospital. 20 students who were at a critical condition have been referred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Kisii County Director Of Education, Philip Chirchir says Government officials from ministry are assessing the situation at the school.He added that since the school is a day and boarding mixed school they need facts on the cause and this can be only done by Medical Officers.
