Subsidised Fertilizer Now Available Countrywide
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Co-operatives has announced new subsidized fertilizer prices after the government availed a Sh3.5billion fertilizer subsidy.

The ministry of agriculture has revealed that cheaper fertilizer is now available for farmers in all the National Cereal and Produce Board (NCPB) depots countrywide.
In a press statement released to media houses by the Ministry of Agriculture permanent secretary (PS) Francis Owino, a 50kg bag of DAP fertilizer will sell at Sh3,500, CAN at Sh2,875, urea at Sh3,500, NPK at Sh3,275, MOP at Sh1,775
"To actualize the Presidential directive, the subsidized fertilizer program will start with counties undertaking planting during the short rains season of 2022,” said the PS adding that individual farmers will be entitled to a maximum of 100 bags of 50kgs.
The Ministry of Agriculture released 1.4 million bags of fertilizer to the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) on Monday, September 19.

The PS noted that the intervention has been undertaken to lower the high cost of agricultural productivity as one of the key drivers to achieving 100 percent national food and nutrition security.
This announcement comes after president Ruto directed a 50Kg bag of fertilizer to retail at Kshs.3, 500, down from Kshs.6, 500.
