On Monday, Kabul's streets were peaceful, but the international airport was a scene of turmoil and terror as hundreds of Afghans trying to flee the country swarmed the tarmac. The US and other Western nations were also frantically evacuating ambassadors and nationals. All commercial flights have been canceled from Kabul's main airport.

The Taliban has declared the war in Afghanistan over after its fighters swept into the capital, Kabul, and President Ashraf Ghani fled the country.

According to Al Jazeera, a spokesman for the Taliban's political office claimed the organization did not want to live in isolation and that the nature and form of the new Afghan government would be revealed shortly.

According to the United Kingdom's defiance minister, the Taliban armed group now controls Afghanistan, and British forces would not return to combat them.
