The Nyaribari Masaba Affordable Housing Nears Halfway

BY ERIC ABUGA

Coming at a time when Kisii is rapidly expanding as a commercial, agricultural and administrative hub, the Ekerubo housing project in Nyaribari Chache is both timely and transformative
The project launched in July 2024, is taking shape and currently stands at 21 percent completion.

The development features four modern blocks (A1, A2, B and C), each rising to G+5, with a total of 240 housing units that blend social, affordable and market-rate homes, catering to families across different income levels.

The Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Interior in Kenya is Dr. Raymond Omollo says the project will ease urban housing pressure.

"It will uplift living standards and support the local economy, while aligning with the government's Affordable Housing Agenda (AHP) under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA)," Dr Omollo says.

The project also integrates 13 shops, a kindergarten, swimming pool, club house and commercial stalls, creating a complete live-work-play environment.

According to the PS, on-site, an average of 200 workers, mostly local youth and women, are directly engaged, alongside interns, gaining skills and hands-on experience in construction, reinforcing the project's role in job creation and capacity building.
