MANHUNT ENDS: SUSPECT ARRESTED OVER MOLO STUDENT JOY WANGUI'S DEATH

Detectives have arrested 23-year-old Walter Kipkoech in connection with the death of 18-year-old Joy Wangui, a Form Four student at Molo Secondary School in Nakuru County.

Kipkoech was traced to a hideout in Lagwenda village, Kuresoi North, following a sustained manhunt by detectives from Molo and officers from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau in the Rift Valley.

Wangui’s body was discovered inside a house in the Kiambaa area of Moto Location. Detectives who responded to the scene recovered an axe, a panga and two knives, which they said had bloodstains.

According to the DCI, preliminary investigations established that Kipkoech was the deceased’s boyfriend, with detectives investigating a possible relationship dispute as part of the motive.

The suspect was reportedly found wearing a blood-stained boxer, a white T-shirt bearing Wangui’s name at the hem and black jeans with visible dry blood stains.

Kipkoech was taken to Molo Police Station, where he is being processed pending arraignment as investigations continue.

The DCI has said detectives are working to establish the circumstances surrounding Wangui’s death and bring whoever is found responsible to justice.

The allegations against Kipkoech have not been tested in court, and he remains a suspect unless and until convicted.
