WIDOW RECOUNTS HORROR AS ARMED GANG KILLS HUSBAND DURING MIDNIGHT RAID, FAMILY SEEKS JUSTICE.
A family in Ratande Village, Bogusero Ward, is demanding justice after Peter Momanyi was brutally killed during a midnight home invasion.
"It was around 9:00 p.m. when we prayed as a family and went to sleep. At around midnight, armed assailants broke into our house wearing masks and carrying pangas. They flashed torches into our eyes and kept shouting, 'Leta pesa!' (Bring the money!). When we told them we didn't have any money, they ordered me to kneel down and put my hands behind my back. They tied my hands, stuffed a cloth into my mouth, and dragged me into another room where they demanded the PIN numbers for our phones before leaving with our mobile phones," Esther narrated.
Esther also revealed that the family had been experiencing a long-standing land dispute involving Peter's brothers over ancestral land in Bomatara.
"My husband had a case with his brothers over land left to him by his late father in Bomatara. Although he later bought another piece of land in Kioge, where we currently live, every time he fenced the ancestral land, his brothers would destroy the fence, causing constant tension within the family," she said.
As investigations continue and the family prepares to lay their patriarch to rest, Esther is appealing to the authorities to ensure those responsible for her husband's murder are arrested and brought to justice.
