PRESIDENT RUTO PLEDGES KSh 2 MILLION FOR TREATMENT OF SICK PERSON IN BOMET

President William Ruto has pledged KSh 2 million to support the medical treatment of a sick person who was brought to meet him during his visit to Bomet County.
The pledge was made on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, as the President interacted with residents during his ongoing development tour of the South Rift region. Citizen TV reported the incident, with the President committing the funds towards the patient's treatment.
Ruto was in Bomet as part of a four-day tour of Bomet and Kericho counties, where he is inspecting and commissioning various government projects, particularly in healthcare, roads, housing and infrastructure.
The pledge came on a day when healthcare featured prominently in the President's engagements in Bomet.
Ruto commissioned the Dr Joyce Laboso Mother and Child Hospital in Longisa, a 250-bed Level 4 facility expected to provide specialised maternal and child healthcare services, including emergency, inpatient, outpatient and theatre services.
The President also highlighted the government's healthcare financing efforts in Bomet, saying that 82 per cent of residents had registered with the Social Health Authority (SHA). He further said KSh 3.2 billion had been channelled to hospitals in the county over the past one-and-a-half years to pay for healthcare services provided to residents.
The KSh 2 million pledge adds a personal dimension to the President's healthcare engagements, as he responded directly to the plight of an individual seeking medical assistance.
Ruto's South Rift tour is scheduled to continue through Saturday, September 12, with additional stops across Bomet and Kericho counties.
The President is expected to continue inspecting development projects and engaging residents on issues affecting their communities during the tour.
