A woman who frequently visits the Subukia National Marian Shrine in Nakuru County has recounted an unusual incident in which she claims holy water from the shrine later appeared to have turned into blood.
According to her account, some pilgrims had carried water from the shrine to their homes after visiting the site. She said the water was later taken to a bishop for examination after the unusual change was noticed.
The woman claimed the bishop confirmed what had happened and described the occurrence as something associated with the Subukia shrine.
The Subukia National Marian Shrine is a major Catholic pilgrimage site in Kenya, attracting thousands of worshippers who visit the site for prayer and to collect water from its spring.
The spring is regarded by pilgrims as a source of holy or blessed water, with some visitors attributing spiritual significance to it.
However, the claim that the water turned into blood remains an account by the woman and has not been independently established as a supernatural occurrence.
The Catholic Church has not publicly issued a formal scientific or ecclesiastical confirmation that the water undergoes such transformations.
The woman's testimony has nevertheless drawn attention to the longstanding spiritual significance attached to the Subukia shrine and its spring.
