Security officers have recovered 370 goats and sheep stolen by armed bandits following an operation in Kochodin, Turkana County.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the recovery was made on October 13, 2026, after a multi-agency security team pursued the suspected bandits who had raided herders in the area.
The officers reportedly engaged the armed suspects and overwhelmed them, leading to the recovery of the stolen animals.
The recovered livestock was positively identified and subsequently returned to its rightful owners.
The National Police Service commended the security team for its swift response and determination, reaffirming its commitment to working with other security agencies to combat banditry across the country.
The operation comes amid continued security concerns in parts of northern Kenya, where livestock raids have threatened livelihoods, displaced families and heightened tensions among pastoralist communities.
The police have reiterated their resolve to pursue those involved in banditry and strengthen security operations to protect communities and their property.
