Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has been involved in discussions with Treasury CS John Mbadi, Higher Education Principal Secretary Beatrice Inyangala and other government officials as the State seeks a solution to the standoff.
The strike, which began on October 2, has disrupted learning in universities across the country, with lecturers demanding the implementation of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
The dispute centres on key issues including salaries, allowances, medical cover and other terms of service for university staff.
Fresh negotiations involving the government, universities and unions representing university staff have also been initiated under the guidance of a conciliator appointed by the Labour Ministry.
The government has urged lecturers to call off the strike and allow negotiations to continue, while the unions maintain that meaningful progress must be made on their demands.
The latest high-level meetings signal renewed efforts by the government to break the deadlock and restore normal learning in public universities.
However, the strike remains in force as negotiations continue, leaving thousands of students affected by the ongoing disruption.
