Former Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimović has criticized Belgium's goalkeeping decisions following the team's elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, placing responsibility for the defeat on the coaching staff.
Ibrahimović questioned the decision to replace Thibaut Courtois with Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens instead of Mike Penders, arguing that the selection proved costly.
He claimed Lammens made the error that allowed Spain's Mikel Merino to score the decisive goal, adding that the coach's decision changed the course of the match.
The former AC Milan and Manchester United forward described Lammens as "not good enough at this level" and "overrated," insisting that Penders was the stronger goalkeeping option.
Ibrahimović also criticized Belgium's goalkeeping coach, saying the coaching staff made the wrong call in selecting Lammens and should be held accountable for the team's exit.
