RUTO HEADS TO SIAYA TO INSPECT MAJOR DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
President William Ruto is in Siaya County to inspect major road, bridge, housing and other development projects as his administration steps up development activities in the region ahead of the 2027 General Election.

President William Ruto is in Siaya County today, Tuesday, September 15, 2026, as part of his ongoing development tour of the Nyanza region.
The President’s visit will focus on inspecting and assessing the progress of major infrastructure and development projects being implemented by the government in the county.
Among the projects on his itinerary are the Dhogoye Bridge in Bondo Constituency, the Sihayi–Bar Ober–Sega Road in Ugenya and the Kodiaga–Fabiano–Usenge Road in Alego Usonga.
Ruto is also expected to inspect the Kalandini–Ka Eljia Road and the Asambo–West Uyoma Water Project in Rarieda. His programme further includes visits to Siaya Hospital and Siaya Stadium.
The government has in recent years announced several major development projects for Siaya, including affordable housing units, modern markets and hostels. The projects form part of the administration’s broader agenda to expand infrastructure and improve access to public services.
The President’s visit comes as his administration continues to intensify its engagement with communities in Nyanza, a region that has traditionally been considered an opposition stronghold.
With the 2027 General Election approaching, Ruto’s frequent development tours have also attracted political attention, with analysts viewing the increased government presence in the region as part of a broader effort to strengthen support ahead of the polls.
However, the State House has consistently framed such tours around development, project supervision and engagement with residents rather than electoral politics.
Ruto’s Siaya visit is therefore expected to combine project inspections with public engagements as the government seeks to demonstrate progress on its development commitments.
