Govt changes half-term dates for primary and secondary schools
Ministry of education Extends the Half Term dates for pre- primary, primary and secondary schools for one week.
In a notice released by the ministry of education, the circular addressed all directors of education notifying them about the adjustments of half term dates due to the disruptions of the opening dates.
"Following the disruptions of the opening dates, it has been decided that half-term dates fir term two be revised," read part of the notice.
All learners will now break for their mid-term on 26th to 28th June 2024.
Initially, learners were set to go for their half term on 20th to 23rd June 2024.
The notice also indicated that all boarding school learners are expected to report back to their various schools on 30th June 2024.
The circular comes out two weeks after learners opened for their second term. The schools were opened a little bit late because of high rains experienced in the country.
"Particularly for Form Four candidates, we will see how we can recover time lost by extending the term by a few days. They were expected to close for three weeks in August and we might minimise the number of days schools will be closed," Machogu said.
Education CS Ezekiel Machogu had earlier uttered that dates for KPSEA KCSE will remain unchanged despite of floods interruption.
"The exam calendar will remain the same as KCSE and KPSEA will be taken in the normal time from November," Machogu said.
