Ruto appoints Julius Ogamba, Kindiki and others in the new cabinet

President William Ruto has nominated 11 new members for his Cabinet following several days of thorough consultations with his allies in both the government and the opposition.

He did this while addressing the nation on Friday 19th July 2024 at statehouse

Some of the names announced on Friday include Kithure Kindiki, who served as the Interior Cabinet Secretary in the previous administration. Kindiki has been proposed to continue in his role in the Interior docket.
Other former Cabinet Secretaries recommended to retain their positions include Alice Wahome (Lands), Aden Duale (Defence), and Soipan Tuya (Environment).

“I nominate the following first batch of 11 individuals for consideration and approval by the National Assembly for appointment as Cabinet Secretaries and Attorney General,” said President Ruto. 

Here is a list of the 11 nominees for the cabinet secretaries’ dockets:

1. Ministry of Interior – Kithure Kindiki

2. Ministry of Health- Debra Mulongo Baraza

3. Ministry of Lands - Alice Wahome

4. Ministry of Education- Julius Migosi Ogamba

5. Ministry of Defence – Aden Duale

6. Ministry of Agriculture – Andrew Mwihia Karanja

7. Ministry of Environment- Roselinda Soipan Tuya

8. Ministry of Water – Eric Muriithi Muuga

9. Ministry Roads and Public Works – Davis Chirchir

10. Ministry of ICT – Margaret Nyambura Ndung'u

11. Attorney General- Rebecca Miano
