One Stoned to Death over Allegations of Chopping off Woman’s Head in Kisii

A man was on sunday killed by a mob at Gekong’o village in Moticho, South Mugirango  following allegations of beheading and killing a woman last week.

Speaking to Getembe TV, the murder suspect had been missing since the mysterious death of a woman, Linet Mbone in the same village.

The area assistant chief Mr. Evans Omune said the residents undertook the move of killing a suspect behind his back.

“It chanced that he was among the suspects in the murder incident of Linet Mbone who was killed in unclear circumstances in this village. I received a call while in Suguta. I tagged along with the chief and also alerted police officers from Etago police station and asked them to address the murder suspect case. We hit the road in looking for the man, unfortunately our efforts didn’t bear any fruits.” he said

Mr Omune explained how he tried to defuel the villager’s move by convincing them not to perform the deed but they defied the counsel.

“The residents were very angry about the man. I tried to persuade them not to kill him as it against the law to take matters into your hands and they should wait for the government to initiate investigations and let justice be served but it was a bit late” said the assistant chief.

“Later I received a call that the suspect had been caught by the angry mob and murdered in the process. I arrived there and found that he had been stoned to death.” Added Mr. Evans.

Linet Mbone was killed and her head chopped off by unknown people last week in her home while preparing supper for her family.

The assistant chief condemned the act saying that when they commit such an undertaking, they are the first to suffer as in the meantime they are having two funerals and they’ll have to submit in the activities associated with the mourning.
