Mama County launches an Initiative to Distribute Sanitary Towels to learners in JSS and secondary schools
Kisii County Woman Representative, Hon. Donya Doris Toto, has launched an initiative to distribute sanitary towels to female students in primary and junior secondary schools across Kisii County. Speaking at Kenyenya Field, Hon. Doris Aburi urged politicians to focus on addressing pressing issues in their communities instead of engaging in tribal politics.
"Many girls miss school because they lack sanitary pads. Now, every girl in primary and junior secondary schools in Kisii County will receive six packets of sanitary pads," Hon. Aburi stated.
Hon. Donya assured that the program would cover the entire county and promised that within three days, all female students in Kisii County would receive the sanitary pads. She highlighted that many schools in the county face significant challenges, such as a lack of proper clothing for using the pads, inadequate roads to schools, and insufficient electricity and water supplies, which hinder the learning process.
Additionally, Hon. Aburi committed to ensuring that girls would receive sanitary pads even when they are not in school. She called on leaders from Gusii to refrain from tribal politics and address the real problems affecting the public.
Teachers and parents expressed their gratitude for Hon. Aburi's initiative, noting that it would help keep girls in school and facilitate a smoother learning process. The government’s efforts to support female students were highly appreciated by the community.
