Thugs Attack power Substation, injure guard in Kisii.
Kegati substation in Kisii County this morning fell victim to a destructive attack by vandals. The perpetrators caused extensive damage by cutting critical control cables, leading to the isolation of two TXs as a precautionary measure.
Although the police responded promptly to the incident, the culprits had already fled the scene. The dedicated staff managed to evacuate safely, with the exception of one guard from the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) who sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The aftermath of the attack has resulted in a widespread power outage, affecting the entire Kisii County and parts of Nyamira.
To address the situation, load transfers are being implemented to ensure minimal disruption to essential services.
Proposed load transfers as follows.
1. Ikonge to Kisii ex Chemosit
2. Marani to Mosocho
3. Kilgoris and Migori to Rongo ex Awendo.
4. Keroka and Kiamokama to either Bomet or Chemosit through Sotik.
5. Kisii 33 and Homabay to Marram ex Ndhiwa.
6. Jogoo to Homabay 33
through Rx 107.*
