ODM MPs Kibagendi and Obadiah Barongo vow to oppose tax hikes

Leaders from various parts of Kisii County convened to support a fundraising event aimed at assisting the Nyabururu Catholic Church in Kitutu Chache South Constituency. The event, held recently, saw a notable turnout of political figures and community members alike, all coming together for a common cause.

Among the prominent attendees were Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi, Bonchari MP Dr. Charles Onchoke, and Bomachoge Borabu MP Eng. Obadiah Barongo. Their presence highlighted the importance of the event and the collective effort to support local religious institutions, which play a pivotal role in the community.

During the fundraiser, the leaders took the opportunity to address pressing national issues, particularly the recent increase in taxes imposed on civilians by the national government. They expressed their deep concern over the financial strain these taxes place on ordinary citizens.

MP Anthony Kibagendi voiced the frustrations of many, stating that the tax hikes are unjust, especially for the lower-income families who are already struggling to make ends meet. His sentiments were echoed by Dr. Charles Onchoke, who emphasized the need for fairer economic policies that do not disproportionately affect the vulnerable populations.

Eng. Obadiah Barongo also spoke out against the tax increases, highlighting the collective stance of the leaders present. He stressed the importance of unity among the local leaders and the broader community in opposing policies that they believe are detrimental to their constituents' welfare.

The leaders pledged to work together to combat the tax bill, promising to advocate for more equitable solutions that would alleviate the financial burden on their communities.
