Rigena residents gets educated on ways of improving their farm outputs

Farmers from Ekerenyo-Rigena, located in Ibeno ward, Nyaribari Chache constituency, received training from agricultural extension officers on crop planting and livestock keeping.

The farmers expressed their gratitude to these officers for the training, acknowledging that they had not been forgotten and appreciating the officers' efforts to motivate them in farming matters.

"Their main aim is to promote five major farming practices: avocado, bananas, coffee, chicken, and cattle. We urge the farmers to join groups that will be funded to empower their livelihoods. We intend that by the time our project ends in about five years, most people will have improved their lives economically," said one of the agricultural trainers.

The trainers also mentioned their plan to establish a SACCO for Ibeno ward, open to all members of the ward. Additionally, they intend to work with vulnerable and marginalized groups, including people living with disabilities, widows, widowers, and orphans.

The farmers appreciated the government's efforts in providing them with farming trainers, feeling reassured that they had not been left behind, and recognizing the motivation to enhance farming in the ward.
