Governor Arati announces Ksh 245M bursary allocations for Kisii county

In a recent address to the Senate, Governor Hon. Simba Arati made a significant announcement regarding the allocation of funds for student bursaries in Kisii County.

Demonstrating his administration's commitment to education, Governor Arati revealed that a substantial sum of 245 million shillings has been allocated for bursaries.

This initiative aims to ensure that students from underprivileged backgrounds have the financial support they need to continue their education without interruption.

During his speech, Governor Arati emphasized the importance of education in driving socio-economic development within the county. He outlined the efforts his administration has made to prioritize educational funding despite the numerous financial challenges facing local governments.

The allocated bursaries are intended to cover a broad spectrum of educational needs, including tuition fees, school supplies, and other essential expenses that often hinder students from completing their studies.

He also addressed concerns about the equitable distribution of these funds. He assured the Senate that measures have been put in place to ensure a fair and transparent allocation processprocess.

He acknowledged that there might be students who could be left out of the initial disbursement due to the high demand for financial assistance. In light of this, he pledged that an additional tranche of funds would be distributed next week to cater to those students who were initially excluded.

This follow-up disbursement is part of a broader strategy to provide continuous support and prevent any disruption in the educational pursuits of Kisii County students.

The governor’s announcement has been met with widespread approval from various stakeholders, including parents, educators, and local leaders. Many have praised the governor for his proactive approach and dedication to improving the educational landscape in Kisii County.

As the new funds are rolled out in the coming weeks, the focus will be on monitoring their impact and ensuring that the intended beneficiaries receive the support they need to thrive academically.
