OLD TRAFFORD THEATRE OF DREAMS CREATES NO NIGHTMARES
Trossard’s strike remains the difference as Gunners move into the final matchday
By Emilio Osoro
Arsenal's Leandro Trossard netted his 12th goal of the campaign in the 20th minute on a dreadful Man Utd injury-hit side to earn his side a 1-0 victory on Sunday that saw Mikel Arteta's men provisionally overtake the Cityzens for top spot in the Premier League table. Arsenal's win at Old Trafford was their 27th in the Premier League this season, only winning more league games in a campaign in the top-flight in 1970-71 (29) and 1930-31 (28
The Gunners, who won for just the second time at Old Trafford in their last 17 away matches, have 86 points with one game left of the tightest title race in years, holders City remain in the driving seat with 85 points and two matches to play. The three points move them back one point ahead of Manchester City. Pep's side need to win their final two games at Spurs and at home to West Ham on the final day to be guaranteed becoming the first team in history to win four successive top-flight titles.
However, if Arsenal fail to win over Everton at home in their last game, then City would only need to win one of their final two games to be crowned English premier league champions. The Gunners need to beat Everton on the final day and hope City do not secure any win in their last two matches.
The Gunners could also be crowned champions if they draw with the Toffees and the champions only picked up a point from their remaining two matches.
