Riragia Technical and training college celebrates centennial of technical training institutions in Kenya

In a spirited celebration of 100 years since the establishment of technical training institutions in Kenya, Riragia Technical and Vocational College in Kegogi Ward, Kitutu Chache North Constituency, Kisii County, organized a series of events yesterday that brought together various schools and communities.

 The festivities aimed to honor the history and impact of technical education while encouraging youth to pursue vocational training.

The college facilitated walks and community engagements across different locations, where participants expressed their excitement and support for the advancements in technical education. 

These events emphasized the crucial role technical and vocational education plays in empowering young people with practical skills that are essential for self-reliance and national development.

Marani Subcounty’s Director of Education, Justice Kimei, and the Assistant County Commissioner, Samwel Muhuri Wanjohi, were prominent figures leading the occasion. Their presence underscored the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and government bodies in promoting vocational education.

In his address, Justice Kimei highlighted the transformative power of technical training in providing youths with the skills needed for employment and entrepreneurship. 

He urged young people to take advantage of the opportunities offered by technical training centers to secure a better future for themselves and contribute to the country's economic growth.

Assistant County Commissioner Samwel Muhuri Wanjohi echoed these sentiments, praising the efforts of Riragia Technical and Vocational College and similar institutions for their dedication to youth empowerment.

He encouraged the youth to remain committed to their studies and to continuously seek out ways to improve their skills.

The celebration at Riragia Technical and Vocational College not only commemorated a significant milestone in Kenya’s educational history but also served as a reminder of the ongoing need to support and expand technical training programs.
