Nyaura residents live in fear after a Kenya power electricity pole fall on some residents' roofs

Residents of Nyaura village in Kisii Central ward, Nyaribari Chache constituency, narrowly escaped death after an electricity post fell on their house early in the morning at 6:00 AM. This incident has heightened their fears, and they are now urgently appealing to Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) to address the dangerous situation.

"The electrical post that fell today on the house is one we have repeatedly reported as hazardous. Today, it was a miracle no one was harmed. We could have been rushing our loved ones to the hospital or, worse, to the mortuary. Despite our numerous reports to Kenya Power, we have never received any response. Even our area chief is bewildered," one resident commented.

The residents collectively expressed their frustration, stating that the electrical posts have been a persistent problem. One resident mentioned that he had to tie the leaning post to a guava tree to prevent it from falling. Despite reporting the issue to Kenya Power for almost three years, no action has been taken.

The affected families recounted their harrowing experience, stating they had to flee their homes in a state of undress due to the shock and fear caused by the falling post.

The community is now demanding immediate intervention from Kenya Power to prevent further damage and ensure their safety.
