Well-Wisher Donates A Boda Boda Shed To Riembe Riders
Riembe staging area for boda boda riders in Nyakorere, South Mugirango is where excitement embraced the local riders after a new shelter constructed to serve as a parking lot for them was fully inaugurated by the area resident and business man Robert Mairura.
For a long time, boda boda operators in this area have been challenged by nature while they had no shelter, at most times sun and rains were the cause of concern
Speaking to the media, John Momanyi, the chair of the Riembe Bodaboda Association expressed how happy they were following the incredible act from the well-wisher.
The new Mairura shed, has an iron sheet metallic roofing that is held on the ground by wooden poles and is placed on a concrete floor base. It can provide a pleasant place to drop 20+ riders with motorcycles while they wait for customer.
In Tuesday morning when the shed was unveiled, bodaboda riders carried him on their shoulders and kept idolizing him as they sang his praise throughout the day.
"Do not be ashamed of this kind reception. Being a son of this area and having once seen the hard operation conditions the riders were exposed to, I was led to the idea of starting this Foundation. This is a small way to show that I care for them through their daily frontline struggles”. Mairura said.
“There, above us, is a shed which has been put in place, a boost to the morale of bodaboda riders such as myself. We no longer sit in the rain and sun all day, and we are almost immune to heatstroke. Mairura has truly changed the working conditions of our workplace significantly." Said one of the boda boda operators.
The riders point out that the shed which the initiative was named from is not only a practical aspect of the campaign but also has the additional effect of giving pride and validation to the riders because they know their leaders like Mairura acknowledge and respect them.

As dusk came, the bodabodas continued to party at their new shed, they had a dance as they were proud of Mairura's generous gift of sheltered dignity while the riders carried out their work.
