The ongoing construction of the Marani-Nyaore-Nyakoe road has sparked a heated debate between the MPs of Kitutu Chache North and Kitutu Chache South.

The MP for Kitutu Chache North, Japheth Nyakundi, has found himself at the center of the controversy, as he defends his role in the road's development amidst claims from his colleague that he is the primary facilitator of the project.

Nyakundi, who is also the treasurer for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in the Kenya Kwanza government, has been vocal about his contributions to the road's construction.

"Hon. Jimmy Angwenyi and Hon. Richard Onyonka, when they were MPs, pushed so much until the road was on design level. They budgeted for it until the construction kicked off," stated MP Kibagendi.

Kitutu Chache South MP lamented that despite these efforts, the road had remained unconstructed for over a decade.

"Upon my resumption of office, together with Kitutu Chache North MP Japheth Nyakundi, we collectively pushed for that road until some money was budgeted for the construction. Now that the road is finally being done, I heard today as the construction was finalizing, MP Japhet Nyakundi mobilized people to claim that he's the one who facilitated the same," Kibagendi asserted.

He expressed frustration over what he perceives as an attempt by his colleague to take credit for a project that had been in the pipeline long before his tenure.

"How can someone from another constituency come to construct the road on our behalf? That road was budgeted long time ago, and we went together to State House to affirm that the president has allocated funds," he added.

Mr. Anthony also took aim at his fellow MP's claims of being a champion for road construction, emphasizing that "it's taxpayers' money. It's not money from William Ruto's pockets."

Kibagendi underscored the importance of respect among elected officials, stating, "Respect is paramount."
