Sources close to the politician indicate that he will be welcomed by Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, signaling a collaborative effort among opposition leaders as they navigate the political landscape ahead of the 2027 presidential elections.
Matiang'i, who recently returned to Kenya after resigning from his position at the World Bank, is determined to solidify his political footing within the Gusii community and beyond.
His return has been met with enthusiasm, especially given his previous visit to the region on 2nd may this year, where he received an overwhelming reception from supporters.
While addressing the crowd that welcomed him at JKIA, former CS urged the gen-z to obtain IDs as a tool to be used in the liberation of this nation in the next elections.
"People are suffering, whether you are supporting the party in power or the parties out of power. The challenges cut across, and that is the reason why we should do everything we can to ensure the survival of our country, and we focus on ensuring we change the lives of our people," he uttered.
"Negative energy has no returns, let us focus on finding solutions to our problems. Half of our problems have nothing to do with money, they have to do with management and leadership. We have sufficient capacity in the country to manage the country better" added Dr. Matiangi.
The warmth and support he garnered during that visit underscored his deep-rooted connection with the Gusii people and highlighted his potential as a formidable candidate in the upcoming elections.
Next week’s visit will see Matiang'i joined by prominent figures from the opposition, including former deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Mithika Linturi, and Eugene Wamalwa.
Their collective presence not only amplifies Matiang'i's political ambitions but also emphasizes a united front against the current Kenya Kwanza government. The gathering is expected to be a platform for discussing key issues affecting Kenyans and mobilizing support for Matiang'i's presidential ambitions.
Fred served under the previous government with President Uhuru Kenyatta and performed excellently in ministries like education and interior as well.
