Kenya Police FC lifts maiden FKF league trophy

Kenya Police FC stamped their authority at the top of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League officially clinching the 2024/2025 league title.

After a decisive 1-0 victory over Shabana FC on Sunday at Kenyatta stadium in Machakos the club was crowned champions for the first time since their promotion to FKF in 2021.

The high-stakes encounter, played in the penultimate round of the season, saw Kenya Police FC enter the pitch knowing that a single point would be enough to secure their first-ever Premier League crown.

The first half was tightly contested, ending goalless as both sides displayed tactical discipline and solid defending. 

The turning point came in the second half just moments after a strategic triple substitution by Police FC.

Brian Okoth soared above the Shabana FC defence to power in a precise header from a corner kick . The goal sent the packed stadium into jubilant celebrations, as fans sensed it was the defining moment of the season.

Despite missed chances, Kenya Police FC maintained relentless pressure, which eventually paid off.

The team has now secured the championship title with 64 points regardless of the outcome of their final league fixture against defending champions, Gor Mahia FC with 58 points , scheduled for Sunday.

The club's captain David Ochieng was impressed with the triumph attributing it to hard work and the influence of the Coach Ndayiragije.

"It was a tough league. We fought very hard and I think we deserve to win it. He made us believe that we could play well win matches and even challenge for the title despite our poor start.He introduced an attacking style of football which we embraced and if has won us the league."

Kenya Police FC head coach, Etienne Ndayirzgije appreciated the club's efforts and congratulated thier opponents for pressuring them.

"We have worked so hard for this and am happy we have it after a huge struggle. We wish to congratulate our opponents particularly Gor Mahia for piling pressure on us and forcing us to push above our weights. It was a tough season with worth opponents and we hope to replicate this next season."

Kenya Police FC Executive Chairman and Commandant of the National Police College, Main Campus -Kiganjo, Mr .Nyale Munga, SAIG, described the win as sweet and overwhelming. 

“The win was sweet and overwhelming moment not just for me but for the entire National Police Service and Kenya Police FC fraternity."

This triumph marks a significant milestone in Kenya Police FC’s history and reinforces the club’s growing dominance in Kenyan football.
