Politicians Gen Z Protests to Destabilize Government

By Vera Mokeira

Orange Democratic Movement National Chairperson Gladys Wanga has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of co-opting the recent Gen Z-led protests to seize power illicitly.

Wanga, who is also the Governor of Homa Bay, vehemently criticized the Democracy for the Citizens party leader regarding the protests held last Wednesday in Nairobi and other regions, asserting that the unrest was meticulously planned and executed by the opposition, under Gachagua's leadership, with the aim of destabilizing the nation.

Speaking at Asumbi National School in Rangwe constituency, where she oversaw the distribution of Sh50 million in bursaries from the Rangwe NG-CDF, Wanga admonished Gachagua, urging him to cease exploiting the Gen Z movement for an indirect path to power and instead await the 2027 general election.

Wanga affirmed that the ODM party, which supports a broad-based government, will not permit Gachagua to persist in destabilizing the government through the sponsorship of unconstitutional protests.

Rangwe MP Lilian Gogo echoed these sentiments, advising opposition leaders to adhere to the law and refrain from exploiting the Gen Z movement for their personal political ambitions.
