Losing an only child remains a devastating journey for grieving parents. The moment is marked by despair and sense of loss leaving parents questioning their worth.

Dolfine Kerubo, is not only mourning the death of her only child but asking for prayers as scammers have been targeting her for the last five days.

Her son, a Grade Seven pupil at St Mary's Mosocho in Kitutu Chache South was pronounced dead on arrival at one the private hospitals in Kisii town on Wednesday last week.

She received a call from the school to visit the hospital on grounds that her son had ben rushed there for emergency medical services.

On arrival she was kept waiting not knowing that her son had died. The family and the Government conducted a postmortem exercise on Friday.

Ms Kerubo now says efforts to reach her friends for support have been delayed as scammers prey on her.

Attempts to form a WhatsApp Group to raise funds to cater for funeral expenses have twice been thwarted by scammers.

"I have received several calls from friends informing me of the excisistency of several groups with the image of my late son. We formed two groups using my number by they were all brought down."

She says; "I pray for all those that are planning evil. I am mourning the death of my child, all I need is peace and support to bury my son."

The late will buried on Friday at the family rural home in Kitutu Masaba, Nyamira County.

Witnesses at the school said the learner allegedly collapsed as he proceeded for lunch and was later pronounced dead, sparking outrage from distraught parents and social media users.

Many accused them of negligence and failing to act swiftly while others broke down in tears, unable to contain their grief.

The incident has wide spread concerns on the need for schools having emergency medical protocols in place.
