CHAOS AND CHEERS AS KISII LAUNCHES GRADE 10 BURSARY — PARENTS CLASH OVER LIMITED FORMS AT KITUTU CENTRAL WARD

Bursary distribution for Grade 10 learners across Kisii County was officially launched today in Bogeka and Kitutu Central wards, Kitutu Chache South.

CEC for Trade & Marketing, Lea Bwari, presided over the exercise in Bogeka Ward. Speaking during the event, she said: “Only Grade 10 learners are receiving the forms. For the other classes, the Governor has plans. Learners who did not receive them will be sorted out.”

Area MCA Richmond Manani expressed gratitude for Governor Simba Arati’s efforts in uplifting education in Kisii County, highlighting the ongoing support for learners.

Gesoni Sublocation Chief Ambose issued a strong warning to parents, stating: “We have the power to arrest you if you do not take your children to school. The government cannot waste money while you are keeping children at home. From next week, we will be going around to ensure all learners are in school.”

However, tension arose in Kitutu Central after parents protested over the limited number of bursary forms. One frustrated parent said: “Governor Arati promised to bring more forms. Why should he bring us 350 forms for over 1,000 parents? We are disappointed. We actually received the information late, but we managed to rush and still did not get any.”

Some parents also questioned the allocation, asking how Grade 10 learners were prioritized while others missed out entirely.

The area MCA said he had appealed to the county government to increase funding in wards with higher populations, assuring residents that the matter would be addressed as he calmed the angry crowd.

Following the incident, parents have urged Governor Simba Arati to urgently address their concerns and ensure fairness in bursary distribution.
