IG KANJA INTERDICTS OFFICERS OVER DEATH OF BLOGGER ALBERT OJWANG
The Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has interdicted all officers who were on duty at Nairobi’s Central Police Station during the death of blogger Albert Ojwang.

The Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has interdicted all officers who were on duty at Nairobi’s Central Police Station during the death of blogger Albert Ojwang.
They in include the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), the officer on duty during the night in question, the cell sentry, all officers who were on duty at the report office at that night and any other officer found to have been on duty or otherwise involved during the incident.
The aim is to ensure a thorough impartial as well as adequate investigation as the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) commence.
Homa Bay county Governor Gladys Wanga condemned the death urging the IPOA to hold a thorough, independent and transparent investigation. According to the press release.
This incident has been echoed by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
"The police are the providers of security to Kenyans and should not be condoned as the biggest source of insecurity and danger to young people."
The IPOA has assured the public of a full and independent inquiry as calls for police reform intensify.
The IG has since confirmed that the deceased had been arrested on allegations of tarnishing DIG Eliud Lagat's name.
