Sheryl Oanga 21, had reported to Moi University Eldoret Mid September to continue with her studies barely seven months after losing her father.

A Bachelor of Arts Education, English Literature third year student leaves behind one other sibling and a mother who has been struggling to educate her after the death of her husband.

Police are investigating the circumstances under which the deceased died and her body recovered at Nyamira Referral Hospital.

The deceased is said to have died in the hands of her boyfriend and other friends who were partying out in Nyamira Town in the late hours of Sunday night.

The mother who spoke to the media from her home in Nyamira town said she had spoken to her daughter Saturday evening through their usual channel of communication; WhatsApp Video Call.

Risper Kemunto says, they spoke at 2pm on Saturday and her daughter was inquiring whether she had taken lunch. She said she was not aware that her daughter was out of University.

"She is the one who usually calls me. She can't sleep without talking to her younger sister. Sunday morning she called me but I did't pick my call because I was headed to lunch. I didn't call her Sunday because I was exhausted."

According to the bereaved mother, her sister called on her to visit Nyamira Hospital. "She lied to me that my brother in-law had been admitted to hospital. I chose to call someone else who informed me that my daughter had been admitted to ICU."

The mother was forced to rush to the hospital where she was informed that her daughter had paased on with three men who had escorted the deceased to the hospital having been arrested.

"We were told that the suspects wanted to dump my daughter at the hospital but they were apprehended by the hospital guards."

She says; "All I want is justice for my daughter. She was the only hope for my family. I have struggled to feed, clothe and educate my two children and it is unfortunate that I have lost my first born child."

Isabella Barongo, the mother to the alleged boyfriend who is among those in police custody said she had heard of rumours of her son and the deceased having had some conflicts over their love relationship.

"Sometime back I was told the deceased had attempted to commit suicide at the same building. Reason being, my son had called of the relationship."

Ms Barongo who spoke to the media from outside Nyamira Central Police station said; "My son operates a petrol statin within the town, the deceased had attempted to commit by jumping down the wall; this is what we had been told by those working for my son."

She says, the mother to deceased was called over. "I am told she beat up the daughter. After that we decided as parents that our son operates from home. Yesterday were shocked to learn that the lady was back to that house."

However, the deceased's mother refutes claims of her daughter having committed suicide; "I may not revenge, she was the only person who could console me. She could tell me to stop crying after the death of her father."
