Leaders asked the President for the Government to fund the relocation of Agricultural Society of Kenya from Gusii stadium to allow for the construction of a modern Stadium befitting the town's status.

The Head of State promised the leaders to have the project commence in the current financial immediately after the County Government has allocated land to the ASK.

Leaders who attended the meeting said their agenda is rooted in delivering the Kenya Kwanza government manifesto and to ensure that the Gusii Nation remains in Government.

National Assembly Majority Chief Whip who led the State House Delegation said the calls to have the Gusii unity unite for political purposes.

“We have walked a long journey in the past few years. We couldn’t wish that we lose track at this critical stage. The promises have been made and we are sure and determined to have all of them accomplished. Let us not detach ourselves form the Country’s leadership.”

Osoro pointed out that he was not willing to leave the Government to join a team that is seeking for leadership.

“My honest opinion to our people is that we already have space in the current Government. We all have our democratic right to support whoever we want but that doesn’t mean that we disintegrate with false hopes that the Gusii Nation can form he next Government.”

West Mugirango MP Stephen Mogaka said he was the greatest beneficiary during the trip. “For years we have been promised on the construction of tarmacked oads in my area; that has never been achieved.”

The expansion of Chepilat – Keroka Highway featured prominently in the meeting. The road is a major boost to the economy of the region that covers both Kisii and Nyamira and a forms part of the South Kenya tourism circuit.

The meeting also came as a sigh of relief for those in the Education Sector with a promise to have the construction of Nyamira University commence in the next three months.

The University will be constructed at Kiabonyoru with campuses at Nyamira town and at Soronga. The Government has budget an initial figure of Sh 500 million to kick start the project. The Kenya Defense Forces will proceed for site visitation beginning this week.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ogamba Migos called on the Abagusii Community to make wise political decisions.

“We are serving the current regime not by default because we have seen what has been done. Work is being done and as good servants we must commend the progress.”

Kisii Woman Rep Dorice Donya who in the recent past has been a vocal supporter of President Ruto said the community stands to gain from the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“There is hope. The projects have been initiated; disunity and noise will further delay the commencing of the key projects. Let us speak with one voice. The President means well for our people.”

 

President Ruto assured the leaders that the government will soon get a new contractor for the stalled Kisii Cancer Centre.

He also announced that, on advice from aviation experts, the government has settled on expanding Suneka Airstrip in Kisii County after failing to get suitable land to construct a new one in Sironga in Nyamira.

"I have instructed the Ministry of Roads and Transport to reinstate Suneka and do their best to modernise it as soon as possible," he said.

The ongoing Construction of 5,000 affordable housing units in the region was also discussed with a proposal to relocate Kisii Main prison from CBD to create room for the construction of more housing units.

Upon survey and design, the Daraja Mbili Over-pass route will be constructed to reduce accidents and make the movement across the area more efficient.

The area has been classified as a black spot with at least three fatal accidents being reported in the area every moth.  

The meeting formed a basis or discussions on Construction of several roads in the region; Nyaribari Chache, Kitutu Chache North, South and West Mugirango and Bomachoge Chache.

The Government will also under the fresh construction of the now run-down Kisii-Bobaracho bypass to cater for the flow of traffic for vehicles coming from Kilgoris.

The leaders also lobbied for the Construction of Sports Academies in Nyanturango (Nyaribari Chache) ,Etago and Nyamarambe stadiums in South Mugirango.

He President promised to have the Sh 6 billion released on time for construction of 18 new markets and for last-mile power connectivity across Gusii region.
